Home Remedy For Treating Pink Eye

Pink eye or conjunctivitis is a highly contagious viral infection, so it is important that one should not come in close contact of others. Hand washing is mandatory; make it a habit to wash your hand with disinfectant after coming in contact with infected eye. Pink eye can be treated at home by boric acid, Tea, jasmine flowers, Honey, saltwater, chamomile.

Home Remedy for Treating Pink Eye:
Boric acid: Gently washing Pink eye with boric acid may relieve the discomfort associated with it, as it cleans and soothed the infected eye.

Tea: Placed damp tea bags on your infected eye this will ease the discomfort associated with it. First boil the tea bags and let them cool then place them on infected eye or you can also simply make a little stronger tea and then use an eye cup to hold the lukewarm tea in each eye.

Calendula: Calendula an antiseptic is very effective against itching and inflammation. It is generally used for eye washing.

Jasmine Flowers: Jasmine flowers soaked in distilled water for overnight can be used as eye drops will work as magic for pink eye, especially for eye having yellow discharge.
Honey: Putting honey drops mixed in warm water in effected eye is also an effective pink eye remedy.

Saltwater: Cotton balls soaked in warm saltwater when placed on the eyelids gives relief from Pink eye.

Chamomile: Simply placed cool moist chamomile tea bags on each closed eye for about 10 minutes. Repeat this every couple hours. This will help in clearing the infection.

Apart from this you can also wash your eyes with Eyebright Tincture in 1 cup of boiled and cool water. Use a cotton ball. Never use straight tincture in an eye.
