Yes losing weight is great, but we also need to build some lean muscle along the way to be healthy and to gain a good amount of strength for good health.
Check out Compound exercises. These are exercises that involves more than one muscle and are the most effective when it comes to burning fat and building muscle all over your body.
If you don't or for some reason can't go to the gym, there are simple exercises you can do at home, but you have to do them at least 3 times per week, and make sure you end them with some stretches that last at least 5 minutes so that you won't be sore the next day or so.
1. First you can do some stretches, you can call this the warmup.
2. Do some leg squats. Back up against the wall and slide down until your legs are at a 90 degree angle. Then hold yourself in that spot for at least 15 seconds, then glide back up and start the process again. Do this for about 10-15 times and you're all set until the next time.
3. Push ups are very effective when done on a regular basis, at least 3 times per week. Make sure you Google in "compound exercises" to get a better understanding about them and to find out how much and how often to do them without over doing yourself.
